The Yoga of Knowledge and Renunciation of Action. Krishna reveals his divine nature: 'Whenever dharma declines and adharma rises, I manifest myself. Age after age I am born to protect the good, destroy evil, and re-establish dharma' (4.7-8). He describes the concept of divine incarnation (Avatar). He explains how knowledge (fire) burns all karma to ash. 'Even if you are the most sinful of all sinners, you shall cross all sin by the boat of knowledge.' The chapter ends with a call: 'Take up the sword of knowledge — cut the doubt in your heart born of ignorance. Stand up, O Bharata.'

ಜ್ಞಾನ ಮತ್ತು ಕರ್ಮತ್ಯಾಗದ ಯೋಗ. ಕೃಷ್ಣ ತನ್ನ ದಿವ್ಯ ಸ್ವರೂಪವನ್ನು ಬಹಿರಂಗಪಡಿಸುತ್ತಾನೆ — 'ಯದಾ ಯದಾ ಹಿ ಧರ್ಮಸ್ಯ ಗ್ಲಾನಿರ್ಭವತಿ ಭಾರತ... ಧರ್ಮ ಕ್ಷೀಣಿಸಿ ಅಧರ್ಮ ಬೆಳೆದಾಗಲೆಲ್ಲ ನಾನು ಅವತರಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ. ಸಜ್ಜನರ ರಕ್ಷಣೆಗೆ, ದುಷ್ಟರ ನಾಶಕ್ಕೆ, ಧರ್ಮಸ್ಥಾಪನೆಗಾಗಿ ಯುಗಯುಗದಲ್ಲೂ ಅವತರಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ.' ಜ್ಞಾನಾಗ್ನಿಯು ಸಮಸ್ತ ಕರ್ಮಗಳನ್ನೂ ಸುಟ್ಟು ಬೂದಿ ಮಾಡುತ್ತದೆ. ಅಧ್ಯಾಯದ ಕೊನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕರೆ — 'ಜ್ಞಾನದ ಖಡ್ಗದಿಂದ ಸಂಶಯವನ್ನು ಕತ್ತರಿಸು. ಎದ್ದು ನಿಲ್ಲು, ಭಾರತ.'
