Second Pandava, son of Vayu the wind god. Possessing the strength of ten thousand elephants, he was the primary enforcer of Pandava justice — killing 99 of the 100 Kauravas personally.
Bhima possessed the strength of ten thousand elephants, inherited from Vayu. As a child he accidentally fell from his mother's lap onto a rock — the rock shattered; Bhima was unharmed. He also drank the poison Duryodhana secretly fed him, which instead enhanced his strength (after Nagas healed him with their nectar).
After Draupadi's humiliation in court: (1) He vowed to kill Dushasana and drink his blood — done on Day 16. (2) To break Duryodhana's thighs — done on Day 18. (3) To kill all 100 Kauravas — fulfilled over 18 days. Every vow was kept.
Killed Keechaka (who harassed Draupadi in Virata), wrestled and killed Jarasandha of Magadha in a 28-day bare-handed match, slew Hidimba, Bakasura, Kirmira, and finally Duryodhana. His mace combat was supreme — Balarama (his teacher) wept when he struck below the waist.
ಎರಡನೆಯ ಪಾಂಡವ. ವಾಯುದೇವನ ಮಗ. ಹತ್ತು ಸಾವಿರ ಆನೆಗಳ ಬಲವುಳ್ಳವನು. ಪಾಂಡವರ ನ್ಯಾಯವನ್ನು ಕೈಯಾರೆ ಜಾರಿಗೊಳಿಸಿದವನು — ನೂರು ಕೌರವರನ್ನೂ ತಾನೇ ಕೊಂದವನು.
ವಾಯುವಿನಿಂದ ಹತ್ತು ಸಾವಿರ ಆನೆಗಳ ಬಲ ಬಳುವಳಿಯಾಗಿ ಬಂದಿತ್ತು. ಶಿಶುವಾಗಿದ್ದಾಗ ತಾಯಿಯ ಮಡಿಲಿಂದ ಬಂಡೆಗೆ ಬಿದ್ದನು — ಬಂಡೆ ಪುಡಿಯಾಯಿತು, ಮಗುವಿಗೆ ಗಾಯವಾಗಲಿಲ್ಲ. ದುರ್ಯೋಧನ ಗುಟ್ಟಾಗಿ ಉಣಿಸಿದ ವಿಷವೂ ನಾಗಲೋಕದ ಅಮೃತದಿಂದ ಮತ್ತಷ್ಟು ಬಲವಾಗಿ ಪರಿಣಮಿಸಿತು.
ದ್ರೌಪದಿಯ ಅವಮಾನದ ನಂತರ — ದುಶ್ಶಾಸನನ ಎದೆ ಸೀಳಿ ರಕ್ತ ಕುಡಿಯುವೆ; ದುರ್ಯೋಧನನ ತೊಡೆ ಮುರಿಯುವೆ; ನೂರು ಕೌರವರನ್ನೂ ಕೊಲ್ಲುವೆ. ಹದಿನೆಂಟು ದಿನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಮೂರೂ ಪ್ರತಿಜ್ಞೆಗಳನ್ನು ಒಂದೂ ಬಿಡದೆ ಪೂರೈಸಿದನು.
ದ್ರೌಪದಿಯನ್ನು ಕಾಡಿದ ಕೀಚಕನ ವಧೆ. ಮಗಧದ ಜರಾಸಂಧನೊಡನೆ ಇಪ್ಪತ್ತೆಂಟು ದಿನಗಳ ಮಲ್ಲಯುದ್ಧ. ಹಿಡಿಂಬ, ಬಕಾಸುರ, ಕಿರ್ಮೀರರ ಸಂಹಾರ. ಕೊನೆಗೆ ದುರ್ಯೋಧನನ ಗದಾಯುದ್ಧ — ಬಲರಾಮನೇ ಕಣ್ಣೀರಿಟ್ಟನು.
