Fourth Pandava and twin of Sahadeva, sons of Madri and the divine Ashwini Kumars. Expert horseman and swordsman, considered the most handsome man in the world.
The Ashwini Kumars — divine twin physicians of the gods — were Nakula and Sahadeva's divine fathers. This gave them both healing knowledge and martial excellence. Nakula was the chief equestrian of the Pandava forces, responsible for maintaining and deploying their entire cavalry.
Nakula was supreme in horse-craft, sword-fighting, and veterinary medicine. During the Virata exile, he served as keeper of horses in King Virata's stables under the name Granthika. He conquered several kingdoms in the Western Digvijaya (military campaign) before the Rajasuya sacrifice.
Yudhishthira once said Nakula's extraordinary beauty was a danger — beauty attracts enemies through jealousy. On the final journey, Nakula fell first among the twins, his pride in his appearance cited as his weakness by Yudhishthira.
ನಾಲ್ಕನೆಯ ಪಾಂಡವ. ಮಾದ್ರಿ ಮತ್ತು ಅಶ್ವಿನೀದೇವತೆಗಳ ಮಗ. ಕುದುರೆಗಳ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಅಸಾಧಾರಣ ಪರಿಣತಿ ಇದ್ದವನು — ಲೋಕದಲ್ಲೇ ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಸುಂದರನೆಂದು ವರ್ಣಿತನಾದವನು.
ದೇವವೈದ್ಯರಾದ ಅಶ್ವಿನೀ ಕುಮಾರರೇ ನಕುಲ–ಸಹದೇವರ ದೈವಿಕ ಪಿತೃಗಳು. ಆದ್ದರಿಂದಲೇ ಇಬ್ಬರಿಗೂ ವೈದ್ಯಜ್ಞಾನ ಮತ್ತು ಶಸ್ತ್ರಕೌಶಲ ಎರಡೂ ಸಿದ್ಧಿಸಿತ್ತು. ಪಾಂಡವ ಸೈನ್ಯದ ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅಶ್ವಬಲದ ಹೊಣೆ ನಕುಲನದ್ದೇ.
ಅಶ್ವಶಾಸ್ತ್ರ, ಖಡ್ಗವಿದ್ಯೆ ಮತ್ತು ಪಶುವೈದ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಅಗ್ರಗಣ್ಯ. ಅಜ್ಞಾತವಾಸದಲ್ಲಿ 'ಗ್ರಂಥಿಕ' ಎಂಬ ಹೆಸರಿನಿಂದ ವಿರಾಟನ ಅಶ್ವಶಾಲೆಯ ಮೇಲ್ವಿಚಾರಕನಾಗಿದ್ದನು. ರಾಜಸೂಯಕ್ಕೆ ಮೊದಲು ಪಶ್ಚಿಮ ದಿಗ್ವಿಜಯ ಮಾಡಿದನು.
