Youngest Pandava, twin of Nakula. Blessed with complete knowledge of past, present and future — yet cursed never to reveal it unless asked directly. He killed Shakuni on Day 18.
Sahadeva possessed complete foreknowledge — he knew the war would happen, who would die, and exactly when. But he was cursed: if he revealed this knowledge unsolicited, his head would split. He knew Karna was Kunti's son before the war but could not say so. The weight of knowing everything yet being unable to speak made him the epic's most tragically aware character.
Before the war, Duryodhana secretly consulted Sahadeva (knowing he would answer honestly when asked) for the most auspicious moment to begin the war. Sahadeva gave the exact moment — knowing full well it would doom the Kauravas. He could not lie when asked directly.
On Day 18, Sahadeva tracked down Shakuni — the architect of all the Pandavas' suffering — and killed him, fulfilling a personal vow made after the dice game.
ಪಾಂಡವರಲ್ಲಿ ಕಿರಿಯವನು. ಭೂತ–ವರ್ತಮಾನ–ಭವಿಷ್ಯ ಎಲ್ಲವನ್ನೂ ಬಲ್ಲವನು — ಆದರೆ ಕೇಳದೆ ಹೇಳಿದರೆ ತಲೆ ಒಡೆಯುವ ಶಾಪ ಹೊತ್ತವನು. ಹದಿನೆಂಟನೆಯ ದಿನ ಶಕುನಿಯನ್ನು ಕೊಂದನು.
ಯುದ್ಧ ಸಂಭವಿಸುತ್ತದೆ, ಯಾರು ಸಾಯುತ್ತಾರೆ, ಯಾವಾಗ — ಎಲ್ಲವೂ ಸಹದೇವನಿಗೆ ಮೊದಲೇ ತಿಳಿದಿತ್ತು. ಆದರೆ ಕೇಳದೆ ಹೇಳಿದರೆ ತಲೆ ಸಿಡಿಯುವ ಶಾಪ. ಕರ್ಣ ಕುಂತಿಯ ಮಗನೆಂದು ಯುದ್ಧಕ್ಕೆ ಮುನ್ನವೇ ಗೊತ್ತಿತ್ತು — ಹೇಳಲಾಗಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಎಲ್ಲವನ್ನೂ ತಿಳಿದೂ ಮೌನವಾಗಿರಬೇಕಾದ ಆ ಭಾರವೇ ಮಹಾಭಾರತದ ಅತ್ಯಂತ ದುರಂತಮಯ ಸ್ಥಿತಿ.
ಯುದ್ಧಾರಂಭಕ್ಕೆ ಶುಭಮುಹೂರ್ತ ಯಾವುದೆಂದು ದುರ್ಯೋಧನನೇ ಗುಟ್ಟಾಗಿ ಸಹದೇವನನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿದನು. ನೇರವಾಗಿ ಕೇಳಿದ ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆಗೆ ಸುಳ್ಳು ಹೇಳಲಾರದ ಸಹದೇವ, ಆ ಮುಹೂರ್ತ ಕೌರವರಿಗೇ ವಿನಾಶ ತರುತ್ತದೆಂದು ತಿಳಿದೂ ಸರಿಯಾದ ಗಳಿಗೆಯನ್ನೇ ಹೇಳಿದನು.
