The Vision of the Universal Form — the Gita's most dramatic chapter. Arjuna asks to see Krishna's divine form. Krishna grants him divine eyes (he cannot see it with human sight). Arjuna witnesses the infinite cosmic form: thousands of divine faces and forms, blazing like a thousand suns, encompassing all gods, all creation, past, present, future — all the warriors rushing into Krishna's many mouths like moths into a flame. 'Time I am, the great destroyer of worlds, here to consume them all.' Arjuna trembles in terror and begs to see the familiar four-armed Vishnu form. 'None but you have ever seen this form.' Then: 'Be not afraid — behold me again as I was.'

ವಿಶ್ವರೂಪ ದರ್ಶನ — ಗೀತೆಯ ಅತ್ಯಂತ ನಾಟಕೀಯ ಅಧ್ಯಾಯ. ಅರ್ಜುನ ದಿವ್ಯರೂಪವನ್ನು ನೋಡಬಯಸುತ್ತಾನೆ. ಮಾನವ ಕಣ್ಣಿಗೆ ಅದು ಸಾಧ್ಯವಿಲ್ಲದ್ದರಿಂದ ಕೃಷ್ಣ ದಿವ್ಯದೃಷ್ಟಿ ಕರುಣಿಸುತ್ತಾನೆ. ಅರ್ಜುನ ಕಾಣುತ್ತಾನೆ — ಸಾವಿರಾರು ಮುಖಗಳು, ಸಹಸ್ರ ಸೂರ್ಯರ ಪ್ರಕಾಶ, ಸಮಸ್ತ ದೇವತೆಗಳು, ಸಮಸ್ತ ಸೃಷ್ಟಿ, ಭೂತ–ವರ್ತಮಾನ–ಭವಿಷ್ಯ; ಎಲ್ಲ ಯೋಧರೂ ದೀಪಕ್ಕೆ ಪತಂಗಗಳಂತೆ ಆ ಬಾಯಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಧಾವಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ. 'ಕಾಲೋಸ್ಮಿ ಲೋಕಕ್ಷಯಕೃತ್ಪ್ರವೃದ್ಧೋ — ಲೋಕಗಳನ್ನು ನಾಶ ಮಾಡುವ ಕಾಲ ನಾನು.' ಭಯಗ್ರಸ್ತನಾದ ಅರ್ಜುನ ಮತ್ತೆ ಸೌಮ್ಯರೂಪವನ್ನೇ ಬೇಡುತ್ತಾನೆ.
