Chapter 12 · Bhakti Yoga

20 verses

The Yoga of Devotion — the shortest and perhaps most beloved chapter. Arjuna asks: who is the greater yogi — those who worship the personal God with love, or those who contemplate the impersonal Absolute? Krishna's answer: those who fix their minds on me with supreme faith — I consider them most perfectly united. He then describes the qualities of his dearest devotee: 'One who has no hatred for any being, who is friendly and compassionate, free from ego and possessiveness, the same in pain and pleasure, patient, content, a yogi with firm conviction, whose mind and intellect are fixed in me — that devotee is dear to me.'
