Chapter 13 · Kṣetra Kṣetrajña Vibhāga

क्षेत्रक्षेत्रज्ञविभागयोग
35 verses

The Field and the Knower of the Field. The body is the 'field' (kshetra); the soul is the 'knower of the field' (kshetrajna). Krishna declares: 'I am also the knower of the field in all fields — knowledge of this field and its knower is what I call true knowledge.' The 24 elements of the field are listed: the five great elements, ego, intellect, the unmanifest, the ten senses, the mind, the five sense objects, desire, aversion, pleasure, pain, the aggregate body, consciousness, and fortitude. True liberation comes from distinguishing the eternal knower (soul) from the changing field (body-mind). 'He who sees that all diversity rests on the One — he knows the truth.'
